General Assembly

Disciples Peace Fellowship sponsors a variety of exciting events
at each bienial General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ). The next General Assembly is July 29-August 2, 2009. in
Indianapolis, Indiana. DPF will sponsor a Pre-Assembly
Event, DPF Breakfast, workshop, booth, and youth after-session.
Wittkamper
and Bratkovich Awards
At
each General Assembly, DPF presents two major awards to
peacemakers. The Will Wittkamper Award
is given in recognition of
a lifetime commitment to peace and justice. The Bratkovich Award
is given in reocognition of a young peacemaker. If you know of
young people who have been involved in promoting peace and justice and
should be considered for the Bratkovich Award, please fill out the
nomination form.

We
sponsored a
busy
schedule of events at the General Assembly
- Pre-Assembly
Event - "Turning Walls into Tables: Sharing the
Feast" - Held Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21 - DPF in
conjunction with Global Ministries had a fantastic
program of workshops and lectures. Keynote was given by Daisy
Machado of
Lexington Theological Seminary.
- DPF Breakfast -
Tuesday morning, July 24 - Hilton Ft. Worth - Rita Nakashima Brock was
the keynote speaker. Russ and Barbara Fuller were awarded the
Will Witkamper Award, and All People's Christian Church was
awarded the Todd Bratkovich Award.

- Monday, July 23
- "What the Bible Says About Peace," led by DPF Executive Committee
member Rev. Craig Watts.
- As always, the DPF
Booth in the Presenters
Hall provided a place to buy - Meet this year's DPF Peace
Interns, pick up a copy of the daily
assembly edition of DPF Newsnotes, buy a T-shirt.
